Services

We are a professional and well-funded fine wine specialist with many years of experience in the wine industry.

Through our relationships with top wineries around the world, P. S. INTERNATIONAL TRADING has access to a vast selection of fine wines.

We source our fine wines directly from producers or merchants authorized by Chateaux owners to ensure provenance, authenticity, and value. All our wines are shipped and stored in optimal conditions to maintain their freshness and longevity.

WHAT IS EN PRIMEUR?

"En Primeur," also known as wine futures, operates similarly to how cotton, coffee, and other commodities are traded on international futures markets.

Traders buy wine at a price they believe will be lower than its market value upon release, aiming to secure the product at a set price and sell it later for a profit.

HOW DOES IT TRADITIONALLY FUNCTION?

"En Primeur" sales emerged in the last century as a method for Bordeaux Chateaux owners to improve their cash flow.

Chateaux owners harvest their grapes, ferment and barrel the juice, and about six months later, before the wine is ready for delivery, they sell the unfinished wine to merchants.

This practice allows Chateaux to generate income from the current year's harvest and fund the preparation for the next year's crop. For merchants, these pre-sales offer the chance to acquire sought-after wines at favorable prices without dealing with storage for several years.

CAMPAIGN

Each year in March and April, when the futures market opens, critics, journalists, and wine merchants from around the world gather in Bordeaux for the annual barrel tasting.

Chateaux owners sample unfinished wine from barrels to showcase the year's harvest.

Although these wines won't be bottled for another 18-24 months and won't be drinkable for several more years, the wine world eagerly anticipates this event. The subsequent reports and reviews from experts significantly influence consumer interest and demand for the futures (tranches) when they go on sale weeks later.

HOW DOES IT WORK TODAY?

Chateaux owners release futures through their negociants (wine brokers). The wines are then sold to merchants via a tranches system. Early tranches often offer the best buying opportunities due to their lower initial prices, but stock is limited (typically 10% of the Chateaux's production) and sells out quickly if demand is high.

As tranches sell out, prices rise and new tranches are released. This system allows Chateaux to maximize the value of their wines. Futures prices are usually the lowest available for the most sought-after wines, especially in special vintages.

HOW TO BUY?

Customers who place early "reservations" will be notified when prices are released, and offered a price and allocation based on availability. Wines are allocated upon acceptance of the offered price.

Wines are sold on an ex-Bordeaux basis, and immediate payment is required to secure the allocation. We reserve the right to cancel any unpaid or late orders.
